Course Outline

First session:

The first session introduces the concept of supply chain management, exploring the various setups and types encountered in daily life. It delves into push-pull systems, supported by real-world examples.

We will also discuss different supply chain processes and the best practices that managers follow. Additionally, we will provide an overview of the metrics toolbox that supply chain professionals use to measure performance on a daily basis.

This session will feature numerous examples of various supply chains to highlight different setups, enabling trainees to clearly identify the structure of any supply chain.

Second session:

Segmentation is at the core of any supply chain. Before designing a supply chain, it is essential to segment suppliers, customers, and products based on specific criteria. These criteria help align strategy for each segment and define the service levels for SKUs and customers. We will learn how to perform ABC analysis and determine the next steps to maximize profitability and service levels.

The session also covers forecasting and demand planning using sales and operations planning techniques, along with guidelines to align sales and operations teams.

Third session:

Inventory is the heart of supply chains, acting as the ultimate buffer for customer satisfaction and demand availability. However, holding excessive inventory poses problems, such as spoilage, obsolescence, and damage. Additionally, tying up too much capital in inventory limits resources available for other activities and investments. Inventory analysis essentially involves determining the right amount of the right product, in the right location, and in the right form. In this session, we will practice inventory replenishment policies using the EOQ model and its extensions. We will also determine order quantities under demand uncertainty based on our targeted service levels.
