Presentation Competencies
- Participants deliver a pre-prepared presentation on a topic of their choice, relevant to their professional role.
Note: The duration of each participant's presentation depends on the overall course length and the number of attendees. An ideal group size is eight participants.
- Comprehensive one-on-one and group feedback
Preparing the Content
- Key questions for the presenter to address in advance:
- What is the objective of the presentation?
- Logistics: what, where, when, how, and duration
- Understanding how these answers influence the presentation structure
- Structuring the material:
- Research – ensuring deep subject matter expertise
- Organizing the content logically
- Designing and incorporating complementary visual aids
Preparing the Presenter
- The three core communication tools for any presenter:
- Verbal – word choice; avoiding slang and jargon
- Vocal – tone and pitch; eliminating distracting verbal habits and excessive pauses
- Visual – appearance: attire; body language; overall presence
- Rehearsing the presentation and obtaining honest feedback from a trusted source
- Managing nervousness
Preparing the Environment
- Room configurations – and how they subtly convey messages to attendees
- Leveraging the room layout to enhance the presentation experience
Revisiting Presentation Skills
- Delivery of a second presentation (following adequate preparation time).
Note: This may be the same presentation as in Module 1, but refined based on detailed feedback.
