Overview:
This is an instructor led course, delivered virtually or face to face. Basing its the content on evidence based scientific research such as the work of Professor Lisa Feldman Barrett, this course dispels some of the established myths around human engagement. The course focusses on the key attributes of person to person skills. The phrase ‘people person’ is often misconstrued as something we either have or not. Some people are particularly gifted with an ease around their colleagues but just like technical or academic skills these rarely come without training and practice. Rather than thinking about concepts such as emotional intelligence, the course concentrates on the idea of neuroplasticity – the ability of the brain to learn, adapt and ultimately improve performance. The course gives candidates an excellent basis to develop some basic techniques in their own style. The course explains how we can give more focus to others needs and perspectives and in doing so, develop our own capacity for empathy.
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Understand what the principles of emotional granularity are and how they can be applied.
- Describe the various techniques of developing empathy and utilise their own style.
- Apply these techniques during formal and informal exchanges to improve and enhance engagement opportunities.
Format of the Course:
- Either instructor led or via webinar.
- Scenario based presentations, role play and demonstrations.
- Break out scenario workshops and group presentations.
